CouncilHaus
Full branding, design system, and ongoing UX for CouncilHaus, a participatory budgeting dApp for DAOs. Built with Blossom Labs.
The context
CouncilHaus is a participatory budgeting dApp for DAOs and web3 organisations — a platform with a widget to distribute funds to contributors and projects efficiently, through dynamic voting that keeps allocation fair and transparent. Built with Blossom Labs and powered by Superfluid's continuous token streaming, CouncilHaus lets communities direct resources in real time without relying on fixed donation thresholds or manual payouts.
The problem
CouncilHaus was being built from scratch. More than screens, it needed an identity. Without one, the product risked landing as "just another dApp" in a space where dozens of governance tools were competing for the same DAOs' attention.
The challenge was to build a brand system that could carry the product's core value (continuous, transparent budget allocation) into every surface, from the app itself, to the site, to the way judges and grantees experienced the platform week after week.
What I did
- Built the brand from scratch: naming exploration, tone of voice, and visual identity system
- Designed the full visual language (typography, color, illustration, and components) as a system that could scale across product, marketing, and community touchpoints
- Co-designed the product surfaces so the brand landed consistently in every screen: voting, council creation, permissions, dashboards
- Iterated with the dev team and the Superfluid team (who tested weekly) to make sure the brand held up in production
- Delivered the final Figma prototype and design system, ready for handoff
The result
CouncilHaus is still in active use by the Superfluid Frontier Guild and aligned DAOs. Across multiple rounds, the platform has facilitated the distribution of hundreds of thousands of dollars to contributors, with voting participation rates and allocation transparency that set it apart from simpler grant tools. The design system I delivered has supported the team in shipping new features independently while keeping the product visually consistent.
